"PRINTSHOP SELECT 15" Overview

Advanced Drawing is another bundled program with Print Shop Deluxe that makes it more than just a basic desktop publishing program. Graphics created in Advanced Drawing can be used within Print Shop and in other applications, such as CorelDRAW, that support Windows metafiles. There are two types of graphics used in the PC world: bit maps and vectors. Bit maps are made up of a collection of dots and are edited in programs such as Paint or Adobe Photoshop. Vector graphics, which Advanced Drawing works with, are defined mathematically. Microsoft's clipart gallery uses vector graphics. Advanced Drawing lets you create and edit vector graphics in the form of Windows metafiles and enhanced metafiles, which have the file extensions .WMF and .EMF respectively. Windows metafiles date from the bygone age of Windows 3.x. Most metafiles you find will be in this format. Enhanced metafiles can be used in Windows 95 and later and allow a larger number of commands, although these are executed outside the view of the user.Start Advanced Drawing by clicking Drawing Tools, Advanced Drawing on the Object Toolbar. Use Advanced Drawing to create a new metafile from scratch or to open an existing one for editing. A blank workspace will appear when you first start Advanced Drawing, ready for you to create a new graphic. Or, with the program open, you can click File, New.You can also open an existing metafile for editing. Close Advanced Drawing and then click Art Gallery in the Object Toolbar. Click the All Art And Photos tab. Choose All under Select Featured Art And Photos. Choose Windows Meta File under Select Type Of Graphic. Click All or a subcategory under Choose Category For Graphic. Graphics then appear in the pane to the right. Right-click the graphic you want and click Export. Type a name for the graphic and save it in a directory where you can find it later. Close the Art Gallery and restart Advanced Drawing.
